Serving Ukrainian refugees in Poland

From September 2023 to March 2024, we provided refugees with over 15 tons of food.

In collaboration with YWAM, we have partnered with 6 shelters for Ukrainian refugees located in southeastern Poland. We provided both food and non-food items to the beneficiaries at these locations. Some of these shelters house refugees who have recently fled to Poland to escape the ongoing war in Ukraine.

That’s how we met Aranka. Aranka and her 6-year-old son, Petro, are Roma Ukrainians who arrived in Poland from the Kharkiv area during the first days of the war. Due to the lack of necessary documents, they are unable to make passports and cannot register with the government to receive the support that the Polish government offers to Ukrainian refugees. The only way to obtain these documents is to travel back to Kharkiv and complete the paperwork there. However, Kharkiv is often under bombing, and Petro, who is autistic, would suffer even more from such a trip. Therefore, Aranka has decided not to travel for now.

Unfortunately, in April, the shelter that had been a refuge for this family was closed. Thanks to the efforts of many kind-hearted people, Aranka and her son were welcomed by a group of people who had been renting a house. They were given the bottom floor for their family. Although it was in pretty bad shape, Aranka spent two weeks cleaning, painting the walls, and making the place nice and tidy.

Aranka is a hard worker. In the shelter, she used to be the right hand of the shelter manager, overseeing the tidiness of the place, managing the cooking schedule for the whole center, and handling humanitarian aid supplies.

Together with you, Operation Blessing provided this woman with cleaning supplies and food. Your help makes a very real difference to these individuals. Thanks to your support.
